POEM • If Homework Could Talk Back

The Reasons

By Aditi Sinha • Published Aug 16, 2026

If I let my homework talk for a day By pouring on my magical spray The reasons that it would complain about The whole world would hear it shout! The reasons, the reasons. My math homework would arise first Oh what would it talk about? The reasons of its pain it would complain Stuffed in my bag until the night of Sunday. The reasons, the reasons. My geography homework next Until I finish in class neck to neck The reasons it would complain Waiting for the last second to complete this pain The reasons, the reasons. Oh don't forget about history Folded in my notebook, what a mystery! The reasons it would complain for forgetting about it inside the school doors! The reasons, the reasons.
